A Message to the Future
Letter to the Moon is a 8-lesson, flexible curriculum that explores the future of lunar exploration and challenges students to craft a lasting legacy on the Moon.
Throughout the program, students will:
-
Learn about the future of lunar exploration and humanity’s role in space.
-
Write a structured essay reflecting on their hopes, ideas, and vision for the future.
-
Develop a Python program that will reveal their message in 2075, which will be attached to the lunar lander launching to the Moon.
Current Mission:
Astrolab Lunar Rover

As part of an upcoming students will create an extraordinary time capsule project: Letter to the Moon.
Each student will craft a personal message predicting what life on the Moon will be like 50 years from now and how lunar technology could benefit life on Earth. Their message may even find itself on Astrolab's lunar lander and get sent to the Moon!
But this is more than just a message—it’s an interactive coding challenge! Students will write their predictions in a structured essay, then bring their words to life through Python programming, designing a program that will unveil their message only when the year 2075 arrives.

Letter to the Moon:
Lesson by Lesson Journey
In 8 one-hour lessons, students develop hands-on coding skills as they create a digital time capsule destined for the Moon. Their work will launch to the Moon's surface as part of an upcoming NASA CLPS mission.
In the Starborn Academy 8-lesson curriculum, students embark on an immersive journey combining space exploration and coding. They begin by researching lunar history and creating a Message to the Future time capsule.
Next, they draft an essay predicting life on the Moon 50 years from now. As they progress, they learn Python fundamentals, explore conditional logic for decision-making, and develop an interactive time capsule program.
Through testing, debugging, and refining their code, students enhance their problem-solving skills. The program concludes with a final submission, student presentations, and the exciting reward of a Moon Mission acceptance letter.
